INTRODUCTORY
PHYSICAL SCIENCE GRADING SYSTEM Your grade will be determined from the average of the following:
GRADE CUTOFF IS BASED ON YOUR AVERAGE GRADE 90 - 100 A 80 - 89 B 70 - 79 C 60 - 69 D 0 - 59 F MAKEUP EXAMS The comprehensive final exam will serve as the makeup exam for all excused absences on exam days. It will count an extra 100 points for each excused exam. NOTEBOOK You will receive 80 points if your notebook contains all class notes and activities conducted in class. Up to 20 points will be added for supplemental activities developed from texts and internet resources. Notebooks will be evaluated during the week before final exams. Notebooks turned in after that week will be evaluated, but will be assigned a 20 point penalty for being late. COOPERATIVE LEARNING POINTS (CLP) You may be awarded CLP during the semester by working with your colleagues in your learning group. For each of the CLP you will receive 0.1 points which will be added to your final average FACULTY EVALUATIONYou must complete an electronic evaluation of both course instructors before the beginning of the week of finals. One point will be added to your class average if the electronic evaluation is completed. CLASS ATTENDANCE The number of unexcused absences that you accumulate will be posted with your test grade after each major exam. You have two weeks after the posting to bring written excuses for absences that occurred since the previous posting. If you do not bring written excuses before the next posting, these absences can not be excused. No excuses will be accepted after the week of finals begins. IF YOU HAVE 3 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, YOUR FINAL GRADE WILL BE REDUCED ONE LETTER GRADE. IF YOU HAVE 4 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN "F" IN THE COURSE.
